My Doubles Trip to Albertsons

I was happy to finally make a doubles trip to Albertsons, since I have missed using them the last couple of times.   I was actually able to use 5 doubles, the 2 in the ad from last Wednesday, and then 3 in the ad from Sunday.  I paid $3.32 for everything pictured above.  I had a savings of $56.69.  The hot dogs and Planters bars were free with double coupons and the boxes of cereal were only $ .49 after coupons.

This is what I bought:

3 Planters nut bars @ 1.99

4 hot dogs @ .98

Albertsons Doubles in Sunday Paper

There were 3 double coupons in the Sunday paper.  If you didn't get the Sunday paper you should be able to pick some coupons up at the customer service desk.   One of the great deals you can get with the double coupons is 4 free Oscar Meyer meat wieners.   They are on sale for .98, and there is a limit of 4.

Price Matching

Price Matching is a service that some stores offer. If you find a lower advertised price from a competitor, you just bring in the competitors ad and they store that has price matching will meet the other stores advertised price. We don't have too many stores that price match anymore, but Wal-Mart is one of those stores.

The above photo shows you an example of something that I had price matched. Fred Meyer had the Wii Cooking Mama game on sale this week for only $5.00. Great deal, huh? Unfortunately, Fred Meyer did not have any left in stock when I went to buy one. So, I took my Fred Meyer ad to Wal-Mart and bought it there. When the cashier was ringing me up, I told them I had a price match and showed them the Fred Meyer ad. They sold the Wii game to me for only $5.00. Score!

Here are some things to remember when you are price matching. If you are interested in having something price matched, I would call the store to make sure of their specific rules regarding price matching.

1. Make sure the ad you are using is current, you can't price match something for an ad that is expired. You also can't price match in advance. If something is going to be on sale at Fred Meyer in 2 days, you can't take the ad to Wal-Mart to price match. The sale price need to be in effect at the time you request the price match.

2. Stores usually won't price match percentage off sales. It has to be an exact price on a specific item. They will only price match identical items, same brand, same size, etc.

3. Stores will often change their policies, so it is a good idea to call in advance to see if they will price match. Both Target and Toys R Us used to price match, but they no longer offer the service. Bummer!

4. Usually stores will not match online pricing. It is best to call and ask about their policy regarding price matching.

5. They store that is price matching will usually require that the ad be from a local store.

I use price matching if the store that has the sale is not convenient for me to shop at. We have a Kmart in our city, but it is not close or convenient to my home. I have 2 Wal-Marts that are close to my house, so it would be easier for me just to take the Kmart ad to Wal-Mart to save me money, gas and time. Also, if I try to buy the sale item and it is out of stock I will use price matching at Wal-Mart. Price matching is a great service that is available, give it a try

Making Strawberry Freezer Jam

I love this time of year! Strawberries are by far my favorite food (except for maybe chocolate). OOH! Strawberries dipped in chocolate are definitely my favorite food. We have a berry farm not far from our house. So, now is the time to get farm fresh strawberries and make some freezer jam. When I am making the jam I always get "yesterday's pick" strawberries to save me some money, because they are $2.00 cheaper than the newly picked strawberries.

I love using the Ball no cook freezer jam packets, because they are super quick and easy. All you have to do it puree the strawberries (you will need 4 cups of puree) then add them to the mix and 1 1/2 cups of sugar. No cooking! I love the way it turns out, it takes like fresh strawberries. It is great to have during those winter months when strawberries aren't available.

This is my first batch. I bought lots of the plastic containers last year, and I will re-use them every year. I like to make enough jam to last me through the whole year, I usually have to make 3 or 4 batches in order to have enough. Do you do any jam making during the summer?

I Got Bear Naked at Target!!!!

How is that for an attention grabbing title? I was able to get Bear Naked Granola at Target for only $ .88. The regular price was $3.79, it was marked down to 1.88 (50% off). I used the $1.00 printable coupon found HERE, so I paid only .88 cents. What a great deal! Check to see if you can get Bear Naked at your Target too.

Target 75% Off Toy Clearance 2009

This is just a heads-up to let you know that sometime in July, Target should be doing a major markdown of all their clearance toys. Hopefully, most of them will be marked to 75% off. If you were around during the after Christmas clearance sale, they did things a little differently than they usually do. Instead of marking all the clearance toys to 75% off, they did a few of them each week. Let's hope they don't change it up too much this time around. I was able to find lots of great deals in January, and I was able to stock up for birthday parties and even some Christmas presents.

To find out what toys will be part of the sale, you can head to Target within the next week or two. You should find some toys that have been marked down to 30% off. The toys won't just be on the end caps like the clearance normally is, it will be mixed in with all the regular priced toys. They should have a little red clearance flag in the aisles directly in front of the products that are clearance items. These are the toys that they will be clearing out to make room for the new fall toys. Anything you see that is 30% off will eventually get marked down to 75% off, provided all of them don't get snatched up before they markdown happens.

Depending on how many toys there are, when the markdown gets close, they could condense all of the clearance toys to one aisle and not just on the end caps.

Last year, the markdown happened towards the end of July. I will be sure to keep you updated, and let you know when the markdown happens. I just wanted you to keep your eyes open when you head to Target so you know what to look for.

Albertson's Doublers in Sunday Paper

There were 3 Albertson's double coupons in the Sunday paper yesterday. They are only good until Tuesday, June 16th. If you didn't get the newspaper, you should be able to get a sheet of coupons at the customer service desk, I have never had a problem getting them at the store.
